VeeFriends Ultimate *Unofficial* Guide
Series 1, Veecon, Book Games, Series 2, Collectibles & More
Disclaimer : I’m a holder of 3 Veefriends, nothing in this post is financial advice & you should always do your own research. A lot of the written below is taken from official websites, employees & community members of VeeFriends I will shout them out in the end. Wherever you see ““ (Parenthesis) it will mean it’s a direct quote from an official website/article/tweet. Another thing please leave cynicism aside before reading this article. Please use #web3alert to ask/comment/anything to do with my articles. Feel free to reach out always!
Hey everyone,
My name is Yotam (@yotamha1 on twitter) and more than a year ago I minted Veefriends as my first NFT. Today I’m going to share with you all of this :
This guide will be structured as followed.
An explanation of what is happening in this certain pillar (VeeFriends Series 1, Veecon, Book Games, VeeFriends Series 2, VeeFriends Collectibles & VeeFriends Mini Drops) of VeeFriends followed by my interpretation and *MY* investment strategy (Again definitely not financial advice)
Finally lets begin!
Team
Since I’m a big believer in Gary’s strategy “Bet on the jockey, not the horse” we will start talking about the amazing team behind VeeFriends :
Gary Vaynerchuk - The chairman of VaynerX, a modern-day media and communications holding company and the active CEO of VaynerMedia, a full-service advertising agency servicing Fortune 100 clients across the company’s 5 locations. He’s been at the cutting edge of community and entrepreneurship since the early days of social media. “From launching Wine Library to his success with VaynerX and Vayner Sports, Gary was one of the first entrepreneurs to bring everyone along for the journey through compelling motivational and business-oriented content”. Early investor in Facebook, Twitter, CoinBase and more.
He is involved in so many more companies and invests in the best startups out there, trust me I can make a whole article just about him so we will stop here.
I strongly advise you to look up his career. Main reason I believe VeeFriends will always be on top is because of him. Forget the idea behind VeeFriends, which we will go over right now, the man behind VeeFriends won’t let it fade away cause it is tied to his name. It’s his mission in his words, “ego” + a super talented entrepreneur means a project that will always adapt and continue to push forward in my opinion. This is usually my mindset when investing in projects.
So again the main reason people invest in VeeFriends today is Gary but his wonderful team includes also Andy Krainak, Nick Corso, Tyler Dowdle, May Niu, Dave Derosa and 20+ more amazing people working to bring this brand to life. I advise you to look everyone of them up and follow along to get the best updates.
VeeFriends
“A Gary Vaynerchuk NFT project around meaningful intellectual property and an extraordinary community” is the explanation on the Veefriends website or as I like to explain it to new people “a new Disney/Marvel/DC around meaningful traits and characters that help us become the best version of ourselves in everything we do”
Finally, let’s get to the point.
The VeeFriends universe is divided into pillars.
Here are the pillars of the Veefriends Ecosystem :
In order from left to right : VeeFriends Series 1, Veecon, Book Games, VeeFriends Series 2, VeeFriends Collectibles & VeeFriends Mini Drops
We will go over each and everyone of them, explain and talk strategy and
VeeFriends Series 1 - Understanding
Imagine you could go back in time and Walt Disney opened up a fundraiser for his big idea “Micky Mouse and his friends or in other words the Disney Universe”. Now it sounds like the easiest investment ever, back then I guarantee you would have laughed for about 10 minutes.
VeeFriends Series 1 is that same investment (Not saying it will go on to be Disney). You have an opportunity to invest in a brand, a universe coming from the mind of one of the biggest entrepreneurs out there today.
Investing in his first drawings is the equivalent of stocks in the brand (Some like myself even see it as a stock in Gary - cause this is tied directly to his name and he will work on it for the rest of his life).
Try and disconnect yourself from the art. I do that with most of my NFT investments. Funny to say that with NFTs but most times investing I don’t completely love the art or even think it’s kind of bad but art is subjective and you can never please everyone. What I do and I encourage you to do too is to look deeper and try and understand the utilities and their meaning to certain people. This should be an article of its own.
So what does investing in an NFT of a “doodle” give you?
Again you might not like the art but the value it gives when you look deeper than the art in this case is…
Well to put it simply :
Access to Gary :
Veecon (An in real life event for the VeeFriends community - we will talk about it soon )
Direct Access through the NFTs (Such as dinner, zoom call, meetings & more - we will see it soon)
Community - Amazing people that believe in the idea coming together (Discord, Twitter, In real life events & More)
IP Development
Brand Building :
Businesses around characters & Traits
Entertainment - Comics, TV Shows, Movies etc.
Merch & Collectibles - Apparel, Cards, Wine Bottles, Pillows etc.
The bigger the brand gets, the more mainstream it becomes & the more valuable the NFTs become.
Meaningful Impact
Did you leave the cynicism aside? Alright I believe you, let’s continue
The ultimate goal behind VeeFriends for Gary is the meaningful impact he wishes to leave behind to the world through his characters and their traits.
The best thing that can happen for VeeFriends (imo) is that Gary’s image will gradually detach from it and the characters and their meaningful traits will do their magic on their own.
Imagine “Patient Panda” backpacks for school reminding kids that patience is good in life or “Motivated Monster” Halloween costumes running out of stock because everyone wants to show how motivated they are towards their goals (Probably more cause it will look good but you get the point)
*Keep on reading to see my strategy for deciding which character to chose before investing
VeeFriends Series 1 NFTs
Token Organization
Take this cheatsheet of all the tokens of VeeFriends Series 1 cramped into one page
Let’s start :
Admission Tokens - Every Character (Except Gift Goat & Access Tokens) has a quantity of 40 NFTs. Rarities are specified above
Gift Goat - A premium VeeFriends token verifiable for 18 total exclusive gifting experiences curated by Gary and the VeeFriends team. Each gifting experience consists of 1 physical gift and 1 NFT. (The NFT lives in the VeeFriends Mini Drops collection as an exclusive NFT Series with a supply of 555 to match the 555 supply of Gift Goat tokens). We have seen already big collaborations with artists such as Danny Cole, Pop Wonder, Drift, Deekay Motion & even a Beeple one is coming
Access Tokens - NFT’s redeemable for access events (Online & In real life) to Gary and the community. For best explanation of each one head on over to : https://veefriends.com/explore?search=access
Look up to the left, do you see that “GOO” badge?
If you see that on an NFT it means that it was first owned by Gary before it moved to another wallet. Just a nice addition to the collectibility game proving that Gary Originally Owned that token.
Every VeeFriends Series 1 NFT is airdropped a Veecon ticket before the event which we will talk about in a minute
Strategy - Which Characters to Chose?
VeeFriends isn’t your regular NFT project that you can just head on to your favorite rarity tool, click around and get the best one out there for the cheapest price.
Here you need to work a bit, pay attention to everything and follow along the journey
I’ll save you a bit of time, lets start :
*Stick till the end to get a cheatsheet for all the character exploring
My top 3 strategy pillars :
Top Characters - Traits that Gary believes in the most will ultimately be the traits that he pushes the most. How do you find them?
Consume his content through socials, believe me you will know (He often involves them in his content in a pretty clear way) Hint : “12 and a Half” book
Business Characters - Try and think outside of the box or sometimes right in front of our eyes. Which characters are possible to collab & build a business around for example : the Empathy Elephant was an easy play knowing that Gary is a part of Empathy Wine (A wine club membership business)
Floor - When I believe that the VeeFriends floor is lower than it should be, every single NFT in the collection is automatically underrated.
How do I determine that?
By observing the market & making assumptions based on other projects
Belief in Gary to execute = Belief in VeeFriends
Can he really maximize the shit out of the IP?
I think that’s a no brainer but time will tell
Veecon
“VeeCon is a multi-day event exclusively for NFT token holders of VeeFriends. Your VeeFriends will give you a three year access pass to attend VeeCon in 2022 (Happened already in May 19-22), 2023 and 2024.
The conference will be focused around business, marketing, ideas, creativity, entrepreneurship, innovation, competition and of course fun. Gary’s focus is to curate the best experience for his community, bringing enormous access and informational value to all VeeFriends token holders in attendance.”
VeeCon 2022 happened two months ago. It was such an amazing time, mostly because it was the first official get together of the whole community. A year of communicating online, sharing goals, sharing wins, sharing awesome moments (GOO giveaways, twitter spaces, club house talks, watching live - christie’s auction & so much more) and basically everything building up to one thing, Veecon. The whole Veecon experience deserves an article of it’s own, so stay tuned don’t worry you will hear everything about it and how I’m preparing for next year (which I hope to see you there too)
The Veecon Ticket - NFT
Art Blocks Founder - Erick Calderon X VeeFriends Founder - Gary Vaynerchuk
The NFT that was airdropped to VeeFriends Series 1 holders is the ticket to Veecon. The art of the ticket is the collaboration of art of the two (Erick & Gary). Art is subjective so I won’t get into if it’s beautiful or not but I will get in to why the collab is a BIG F deal.
Art Blocks is a generative art beast in the space, it’s leading the way in all aspects. Erick’s first personal collection was Chromie Squiggles (You can see an example of one above - on the right and left of the title “VeeCon Tickets”) which was a huge success, his second collection is this collaboration here. Gary, well we’ve talked about Gary already, do I really need to add?
An investment in this NFT, other than wanting to come to Veecon, is a belief that :
VeeFriends will succeed in the far future therefore the first tickets to the first get together of the community will be worth a lot in the future
Art Blocks will succeed, the founder who has done an amazing job in the space will succeed in the future. Once again, this is his second collection ever
Gary’s first conference ever will be worth a lot to his community in the future
Snoop Dogg X VeeFriends
While closing up Veecon on the last day, Gary & Snoop Dogg announced that the Veecon NFTs will be added a utility for a collaboration between the two over the summer of 2022.
What do you think it will be?
Let me know using #web3alert on twitter
Book Games
Watch the video or read down below with interpretations :
“A layer 2 NFT project brought to you by GaryVee, featuring 125,000 burnable tokens in a game that’s played forever. The token artwork drawn by Gary was inspired by the VeeFriends character category “Just Art”, which showcases different artistic interpretations of the 13 emotional ingredients of Gary’s newest book Twelve and a Half as well as 3 unique and Special artworks Koala 2025, Paper Hands Pony, and Time Machine Tiny Ogre”
So basically when Gary published his new book “Twelve and a Half” (Here you have 12 and a half traits that are also VeeFriends of course and like I said before paying attention to his businesses and day to day will help you see the traits he believes in the most) he did a publicity stunt which was an offer that lasted for 24 hours. We had 24 hours to buy as many books as we would like knowing that each 12 books we ordered would guarantee us 1 NFT.
People went crazy. A lot of cynicism rose obviously. But overall I can tell you that sooo many books ended up as gifts/donations all across the world and it was and still is amazing to watch. I for one ordered 24 books and till this day I gift them out as special meeting gifts.
Back to the game.
So the game is quite simple overall. You have an NFT and you can “burn” (send it to an address that is unreachable through their burning website feature) it and you redeem a reward. Could be physical, NFT or even an experience in real life!
Imagine Gary saying in the Discord : “First to burn any 24 book games tokens gets to come eat dinner with me and Shaq next week in Dubai”
Crazy right?
So a few facts to get the game going :
Book Games are played FOREVER (Patience is key… or not? - do what feels right for you just know that in 20 years the game will probably become way more scarce)
Book Game *was* an Friendslist (Allowlist) for VeeFriends Series 2 (Happened already)
Only to get the 15 new characters in Series 2 is through Book Games (Happened already)
Again, Book Games tokens are burnable assets for other assets
Finally lets meet the tokens :
“Here are the 16 hand-drawn artworks by GaryVee, including 13 core BOOK GAMES characters and 3 Special characters ”
“Each BOOK GAMES character is encased in one of the five VeeFriends Spectacular rarities-inspired background designs, including Bubble Gum, Lava, Diamond, Gold, and Hologram”
“Each token artwork is also framed in 1 of 15 randomly generated frames”
“The combination of 16 original artworks, 5 Spectacular rarities, and 15 different frames creates a possible combination of 1,200 different BOOK GAME token rarity types”
“How to Buy, Sell, and Transfer BOOK GAMES NFTs on TokenTrove”
So personally I didn’t play too much Book Games or at least I'm not as active as I thought I would be (playing long hodl here)
Let’s talk strategy
So first of all, again, I’m not so active on Book Games and what I say down below definitely isn’t financial advice but it is how I see it and maybe will act on it in the future.
Down below I’ll share with you guys who are the best in the space to follow regarding Book Games
So my strategy divides basically into 2 :
The Obvious - Arbitrage with the exchange - This is easiest to be done with physical/NFT redeemable assets. It’s always clear which Book Games tokens you need to burn in order to redeem you prize. Check the value of the tokens you need to burn and compare it with the prize’s value. Sometimes the Book Games tokens will cost less than the prize you can redeem it for and there you have an arbitrage opportunity. Be careful tho
Playing the “easy” game, waiting & betting on the future of Gary - same as the whole project - as Gary becomes bigger the value he can provide with this game can become stronger therefore being patient and betting on Gary seems like a good play for me. HODL until there is an option to eat dinner with him and Shaq
VeeFriends Series 2
VeeFriends Series 2 is the evolution of the hand-drawn characters in Series 1 by Gary (Remember I said don’t get stuck on the art? NFTs can change/evolve/adapt).
So what is so special about them?
You said don’t get stuck on the art so why do you suddenly care?
So yeah the art does matter but not in the way you think. With all the love to Gary’s drawings, I really do love most of them. In order to be a worldwide brand recognised and loved around the world of course you have to have it appeal to the mainstream and that means evolving the original sketches by Gary into professional branded art characters.
Do yourself a favor and take a look at this for example on how brands evolve over time :
Check this channel out, seems like the best place to learn about these kind of evolutions. Can’t wait for his episode on VeeFriends in 2055.
Another big thing in VeeFriends Series 2 is that it is a collection of 55,555 NFTs meaning that the family of holders gets bigger.
Just to make it clear, in VeeFriends everyone is family. From a first timer in the discord to Jeremy Knows probably the biggest VeeFriends fan out there.
So we have characters evolving like this awesome dude here :
Gary Vaynerchuk :
“WE are EVOLVING, the Rare Robot is going from my hand drawn original to the new series 2 look and so are 200+ more characters, too often in NFT land we think in days, for me this is decades, i will make these VeeFriends house hold names ..its my mission”
And instead of 236 (10,255 variations) characters in series 1 we now have 251 (55,555 variations) characters in series 2. I’ll say it again 55,555 NFTs in series 2 VeeFriends.
Why so many?
We are on a mission to become a worldwide known brand, the question should be why so little NFTs. So we are expanding to bring more people in to our world of VeeFriends. More holders = more recognition = more families and kids getting excited all over the world opening up VeeFriends cards. The more the merrier.
It doesn’t mean that VeeFriends Series 1 will be less valuable now. The opposite!
More people are joining the game and now they want to get their hands on the original NFTs. The NFTs that started it all.
Think about pokemon cards. Would the first batch of cards be as big without the 2nd/5th/10th/18 edition? Of course not. If they would’ve stopped the story at the 1st series than it would have never become so big because people would’ve wanted to be a part but it would’ve been impossible for the whole world to join in on the fun with Pikachu.
Series 2 Breakdown
Enough talking about other brands, let’s breakdown ours first.
So the newest addition besides these cool looking drawings getting even cooler are Poses and Scenes.
Poses and Scenes are part of the storytelling of the brand building in VeeFriends Land (VeeFriends Land is basically a term for everything around VeeFriends, it’s not a real land… yet?)
“All 55,555 VeeFriends Series 2 NFTs are 1 of 1 artwork, featuring a unique combination of 4 traits — Character, Pose, Scene, and Spectacular”
Characters
“Character: All 251 VeeFriends Series 2 Characters have 220 tokens for each (except Gift Goat, which is 555).
Each character has 214 Core tokens:
Core tokens will place their character in 1 of 74 Scenes, and in 1 of 8 Poses.
Each character has 6 1/1 Spectacular types:
Hologram, Lava, Bubble Gum, Diamond, Gold, and the new Spectacular — Emerald”
So basically each character is coming to life and getting a pose and scene (background)
And we have 15 new characters coming to life!
Poses
“In VeeFriends Series 2 all characters can be found in 1 of 8 different poses. Included are also some Special Poses in Series 2 that are very rare, such as Actively Competing which is the only moving Pose, and Upside Down where the character is looking at the world from a different perspective.”
We don’t know too much about the poses for now. Except for evolving that we know will be a better trait in the future, it is kind of a step towards VeeFriends 1 because these are the NFTs that holders of the first series received for holding their VeeFriends Series 1.
So the best way to deal with it is to try and speculate based on every new findings that we get. For example the Competitive Clowns & Pickleball scences (separately) received a :
Notice that it’s not only for Competing (Pose) Competitive Clown. It’s for all Competitive Clowns and for all Pickleball Scenes. This gives us though clues as to how Gary and the team thinks and operates.
So now we can try and use our imagination for the rest of the competing poses and other poses in general. Here are a few examples I believe could happen, Gary and the team please use them.
These are examples from my imagination so obviously don’t take them too serious but use them as a way to speculate for yourself before picking out a character/pose/scene.
Examples :
Strategising (Pose) Hungry Hammerheads - There are 33 of them so he can say since they are Hungry as in hungry for success I believe is what Gary went for here and they are strategising then best thing I can do is to give them access to a 1 hour class taught by Alex Hormozi lets say for example. Now why did I pick Alex? First of all cause I just finished a podcast (Iced Coffee Hour - super recommended) he was on so he immediately jumped to my thoughts, he is in touch with Gary and why don’t I think Gary will do the class?
Has to do only with the Access Tokens of VeeFriends Series 1, he is still obligated to finish their claimable perks and that will somehow make them feel a bit less valuable imo.Resting (Pose) Chill Chinchilla - Although resting isn’t in his nature he could say something like everyone who has that combination can get a discounted chill vacation throughout the year at a resort somewhere around the world. Maybe VeeFriends Island (Gary joked about it once)
You get the idea, use your imagination and don’t be shy share them with the team you can never know what will happen!
Let me know what you think can be a cool combination by using #alert3web on twitter.
Scenes
Scenes play a big role in Series 2, as we see our characters explore new environments. There are 74 total scenes — 60 Core, 6 Spectacular, 6 JackNFT Glitches, and 2 Special Scenes known as Green is Green and Clean White.
All VeeFriends Series 2 Core Scenes — 60 Total
As with the poses we have the same approach here. For example the first Competitive Clown utility event was available only to clowns with a Pickleball scene. Btw Competitive Clown is also the mascot for Gary’s pickleball team called the 5’s (They are really good!)
Special Scenes:
There are a total of 8 special scenes in Series 2 which include 6 JakNFT Glitch scenes, and 2 other special scenes known as Green is Green and Clean White.
Spectaculars
“Among the most exciting and rarest tokens in the collection are the incredible transformations of Spectacular types from Series 1 to Series 2!”
Series 1 vs Series 2
Keep in mind that rarity is first of all determined by the character in my opinion and then going into the character’s quantity/poses/scenes/backgrounds it becomes more or less rare.
Strategy
My strategy for Series 2 is based on 2 things :
Things we think we know - Everyone has a different top 10/30/50 but some characters are always up there. My strategy for Series 2 as for Series 1 is to keep my eyes open for those characters and based on my evaluation then I choose to buy or not. Also in things we know are utility events such as the Competitive (Pose) Competitive Clown. Also a big clue that Gary gave us is that characters in their natural scenes are the best combinations. For example a “Tough To Beat A Worm From The Dirt!” in the The Dirt Scene because those are stories that can come to life because they are natural.
Things we don’t know - I’m going to do 2 things. First is continuing to speculate between poses, scenes and combinations of them to try and make up a utility story behind it until one clicks and I believe it enough to bet on it. Second is to hear the community’s thoughts and speculations. I believe someone will guess right for sure. There already a lot of speculations out there, good luck
Physical Collectibles
So we are not only Jpeg nerds?
Of course not
Most NFT collectors are natural collectors of in real life objects such as cards, games, sports, shoes and a lot more.
So obviously Gary being a huge collectible guy himself VeeFriends is coming to a store near you probably. If it’s Uno cards, summer apparel, prints for home, wine and so many more collabs and in house (VeeFriends) productions that I literally lost count and we just entered year 2 of VeeFriends…
Strategy
To be honest I’m not a huge flipper guy mainly because of the very poor bureaucracy here in Israel for everything around that. So naturally because of that and because I love VeeFriends and the community I will hodl most things unless maybe big offers come my way I won’t lie hahaha. Hadn’t received my cards yet so who knows but the other merch is definitely here to stay and pile up on the walls.
What now? Who Do I Follow?
First of all, me of course (@yotamha1 - Twitter) hahaha if you don’t make the ask for yourself who will?
Now for the real stars of VeeFriends Land on all social and in real life :
Jeremy (@jeremyknowsvf - Twitter, @wannabeaveefriend - Instagram)
If we could all agree on a number 1 fan for VeeFriends this would be the guy. To put it simply, he sometimes gives more alpha than Gary (Mainly cause Gary can’t share and Jeremy speculates and most times is right). But other than alpha, if you want to fall in love with VeeFriends and get caught up with every little thing and everyone in the community it will have to be through Jeremy. I followed him before he had 100 followers on IG, watching him live daily doing updates and engaging with the community. Pretty insane how back it goes, only 1 year feels like 10. So again every little thing in VeeFriends land is best to hear first and always double check with Jeremy’s content, also my article I’m pretty sure he will correct me a lot haha.
Book Games - (@bookgamesinfo, @overthamoon1, @notagamblr)
Everything you want to know about Book Games these are your people. Besides being awesome guys they are all book games worms!
They will help you out with everything around the project. With templates and updated burnt token counts they have it all!
Steph & Manny
If VeeFriends had news anchors it would definitely be this amazing couple!
They cover everything around VeeFriends in a cool summarised content way. From live updates to 1 min videos catching up on the past week.
Met them at Veecon, the energy they give to their content definitely continues into real life!
Bart Chart
“An unofficial power ranking of VeeFriends characters”
The only chart you need when going VeeFriends shopping. Bart had VeeFriends specialists picked by the community each grade their own list of VeeFriends, crossed it between all the results and received what we know today as Bart Chart. You don’t have to agree 100% on the chart, sometimes I don’t either, but it saves you a lot of time focusing on the more interesting ones for now.
DataNFT
No idea who runs the account behind it but all I can say is that he has an awesome vibe, a good heart in the space. VeeFriends analysis is what you can find in his feed but not only VeeFriends he is worth a follow for NFT Land in general, also a big Chippy’s World fan (Article incoming?). It’s hard explaining to non-NFT people that you trust an extension punk more than a “regular” human, also hard explaining extension punks but that’s another story.
Also you have to check out :
Datanft.io
VeeDao
“VeeDao is a community of art collectors passionate about the long term vision of VeeFriends & other blue chip NFTs”
Basically all the VeeFriends enthusiasts in one DAO. VeeDao is an amazing place to start the journey of VeeFriends. I don’t hang there as much as I would like or should but from the little I know it is operated by awesome people (@VFriendsEth, @ericmcdonald99 & more) and the community is even better. In Veecon the vibes were insane thanks to these crazy good people.
Tips / Tricks / Hacks
Discord -
When researching characters make sure to cross reference anything that Gary / VeeFriends team members / VeeFriends big community names said about them by :
Filtering “From”
Adding garyvee#1565
Filtering “(Insert your character)”
Same goes for Twitter, go to their accounts and search your character!
Show Up
Showing up in the community, helping people out in the discord, participating in spaces, participating in clubhouses (Shout out @saldiguardia, @We365_, @AlenClo), coming to IRL (In Real Life) events and reaching out to say hi!
These are all practices that will take you so much further in your web3 journey and I guarantee you will make amazing friends through it!
Searching Through Old Content
Go back in time through Gary’s content or better yet Jeremy’s content hahaha trust me he did it before you, you will find valuable data and speculations about future developments in VeeFriends Land (Again not a thing… yet) which are currently not in the main spotlights but are definitely happening!
Thank you’s & Apologies
